Pam Sintes Memorial Regatta PHRF Sailing Instructions August 24,

1. Rules
1.1 This regatta will be governed by the 2021-2024 Racing Rules of Sailing
(RRS) and the Prescriptions of U.S. Sailing
2. Notices to Competitors
Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice boards located near the North
Entrance to NOYC.
3. Changes to Sailing Instructions
Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0800 on the day it will take
effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted by 2100 on the day
before it will take effect.
4. Signals Made Ashore
Signals made ashore will be displayed at the signal mast in NOYC dry storage.
4.1 When flag AP is displayed ashore, “1 minute” is replaced with ‘not less than 60 minutes’ in
the race signal AP.
5. Schedule of Races
5.1 Dates of Racing:
08/24 - PHRF Spinnaker, Non-spinnaker, J80
5.2 Number of Races:
Race committee may attempt up to 2 races for each class.
5.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is: 08/24 - 0955

7. Racing Areas
The Racing area shall be Lake Pontchartrain.
8. The Courses
8.1 Shall be announced by Race Committee and will be around fixed marks.
8.2 No later than the warning signal, the race committee signal vessel will display the full course.
9 Marks
9.1 Fixed Mark locations can be found on the NOYC website.
10 The Start
10.1 Races will be started by using RRS 26 with the warning signal made 5 minutes before the
starting signal.
10.2 The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag and the starting mark.
10.3 Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area during the
starting sequence for other races.
12 The Finish
12.1 The finishing line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the signal boat and
the finish mark.
13 Time Limits
13.1 For each class the time limit will be 45 minutes after the first boat of that class has finished.
13.2 Boats failing to finish within the time limit will be scored Time Limit Elapsed.
14 Protests and Requests for Redress
14.1 Protest forms are available at NOYC. Protests and requests for redress or reopening shall
be delivered there within the appropriate time limit.
14.2 For each class, the protest time limit is 60 minutes after the race committee has docked.
15 Scoring
15.1 Low point scoring system will be used.
15.2 1 race is required to be completed.
16 Safety Regulations
16.1 Each boat is required to check in with race committee before the first start.
16.2 A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible.
17 Communication
The race committee will be monitoring and communicating on VHF channel 69.
