CSA Full Moon Race this weekend.

This should be a lot of fun and really glad CSA moved this race to May rather than August. Hope a lot of boats will enter.

Current forecast is 12-16 knots from ESE so will be a quick one that the fast boats will finish before dark with a start time of 4p. The current SI has all marks for both courses left to port but I believe that puts the southshore sailors at a disadvantage as they will sail a beat to (southshore) J, broad reach to S, and then fetch to close reach back to A. The northshore sailors sail a fetch to close reach to M, broad reach to (northshore) J, and then downwind back to M1. I’d suggest consideration to reverse either course and leave marks to starboard for the reversal to make one course equal to the other. I know CSA may be concerned about boats sailing at each other on a leg but it’s a big lake and with the long legs there will be plenty of separation to keep it safe.

Thanks again CSA, should be a spectacular afternoon of sailing.
