Scoring Software
In Response To: Re: What's up SYC? ()

With single rating PHRF going away in the near future, finding a good scoring system is going to be very important. Regatta Network as been really nice to score with and easily post results, but to the best of my knowledge does not have the capability to store a database of ratings. I foresee confusion and mistakes if we expect sailors to remember and enter all 4 of their New PHRF/ORA-1 ratings for each regatta. A system that could store all ratings for a boat, and then apply the Wind Velocity/ Course that RC choses each race would make everyone's life much easier. Like Curtis said, if we could get all of the Lake Clubs, or even all GYA clubs, on the same software analyzing results and scheduling races gets much easier. What's the solution? The Regattaman site already has all ORRez ratings, but it seems SYC and Challenge cup are the only ones using ORRez, I seem to remember it being a little expensive (especially for free races) and the software seems clunky. I Venmo'd my entry fee to an SYC member to race in a SYC regatta this year, so It seems Regattaman has trouble processing entry fees. If Regatta Network could add a GYA database for scoring that seems like a good solution. Excel based scoring is an option, but then you need a website to host all of the scores, and it is likely less intuitive for scorers not acquainted with Excel.

Last I heard the new PHRF/ORA-1 (what are we calling the new ratings?) would be ready early April. Has anyone seen them?
