Generational Shift Or Lack Their Of

J22 Midwinters was absolutely the best sailing on Lake P in the last 18 months that I can think of. 29 boats on the water. I have sailed the J22 OD boats since Mid-late eighties with Sail LA, Collegiate Sloops & Collegiate Match Racing. Was even part of Lake P J22 Class when founded. Great OD boat. The problem staring us in the face is lack of generational shift, not just with J22 but even the new Viper class. The average age on the water is easily 50 years old. The problem is worse than the Saving Sailing author described 10 years ago. Very few young people coming into this sport in handicap racing, OD or club racing. I wonder why we do not have the numbers with twenty and thirty year olds. You don't even see them racing with their rich uncles or parents like they use to.
