You are correct, I don't get much sailing in myself these days, but that is because running a junior program takes a lot of hours and I still have a full time job and a family. I pay my NOYC dues just like everyones else. I don't get compensated in any way from NOYC. But to answer your questions...

Do you ever reach out to any schools to get more kids?
Yes. It has always been my goal to expand junior sailing. All three schools that sail out of NOYC are because of my outreach; remember, I only coach one of them.

Would these kids need their own coach? Or can they join the current high school program?
I would do every thing in my power to help them find a coach, as I have done with all the schools that sail out of NOYC. I don't know of any yacht club that provides consistent free coaching for their juniors. NOYC does not have the budget for that, nor the volunteers willing to put in that many consistent hours.

Would the kids from the schools that offer compensation take precedence over the kids from the schools that do not?
Aside from practices that already use all our assets, no.

Does anyone try to get these kids on boats of members of the club to get them interested in sailing year round?
We have, although I do feel it is important to give the kids a break from sailing. They sail a lot during the school year and come back excited to go sailing again in the Fall. Sailing is the only school sport in which the season runs the entire school year. Every other sport is either Fall, Winter, or Spring.

If the Juniors win a Lipton before the adults, will NOYC bar the Jr program from competing until they win?
Probably not.
